gin.History and Origin
Common juniper is largely distributed around the world. It is the only indigenous juniper found in Northern forests. Transcontinentally present in North America, it grows as a low, mat-forming shrub. It likes rocky and dry soils and full sunlighting. In traditional Native medicine, it is used to treat a wide variety of disorders ranging from stomach pains and respiratory disorders to venereal disease. It is also widely used to treat many disorders related to the urinary system. Ancient Greeks would burn it to fight epidemics. Incidentally, it was used in Germany (1856) during a cholera epidemic as well as in France (1870) to treat smallpox.

| Indications |
On l’utilise notamment dans les cas de bronchite et de rhinite++ ainsi que pour soigner les rhumatismes++, l’arthrite, la névrite et la sciatique. Il sert par ailleurs à calmer l’anxiété et à traiter les problèmes de menstruations. Le genévrier est aussi utilisé dans les cas de colite inflammatoire et spasmodique, d’entérocolite fermentaire++, de dermatoses+ et dystonies neurovégétatives++. |
| Action énergétique et émotionnelle |
Le genévrier possède une action purificatrice agissant sur les plans spirituels et physique. On l’utilise d’ailleurs traditionnellement à cette fin dans plusieurs cultures. On suggère d’en utiliser trois gouttes dans deux tasses de sel de mer ajouté au bain pour libérer les tensions après une journée éprouvante. L’huile essentielle peut être portée comme huile de protection ou encore diffusée pour le nettoyage des énergies. Le genévrier possède une action sur tous les chakras. |
